General Responsibilities:
To deliver in a smooth, effective, and prompt manner, information or requests to members or program participants.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Minimum requirement of a high school diploma. Experience in sales, communications, and human relations is helpful. The ability to relate well with all ages. A mature attitude and clean, neat appearance along with a pleasant, polite, and courteous personality are necessary to be successful.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Thorough knowledge of all front desk procedures as outlined in the handbook.
- Member admission (checking cards for name and expiration date).
- Check out equipment and ensure it’s proper return.
- Registers members and non-members for programs.
- Answers telephone (by third ring) and provides accurate information on programs, rentals and fees.
- Secures areas of the building at closing time if on duty.
- Makes telephone calls to members, class participants, and/or others as assigned.
- Attends all staff meetings and actively participates for the betterment of the YMCA and it’s members.
- Provides suggestions to improve member service.
- Actively promotes, pursues, and sells the YMCA to potential members.
- Notifies administrative staff of problems, concerns, suggestions and/or complaints from members and class participants.
- Accounts for payments received and accurately records payment and issues receipts to member or participants.
- Volunteers as special events when available.
- Keeps front desk area/lobby clean and tidy.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- All staff should demonstrate the YMCA core values (honesty, caring, respect and responsibility) in their daily work activities and while representing the YMCA.
